The most useful thing about microcement is not the look, though the look is why people want it. It is that the system goes directly over existing tile. No demolition, no dumpster, no three weeks of dust. A dated tiled bathroom becomes a seamless, modern one at 2 to 3 millimetres of added thickness.

How the system works
Microcement is a layered system, and every layer matters:
- Adhesion primer keys onto the old tile so nothing moves
- Base coats with mesh bridge the grout lines so they never telegraph through
- Finish coats give the colour and the subtle trowel texture
- A two-part matt sealer makes it waterproof and cleanable, this is what makes showers possible
Skip a layer and the system fails. Buy it as a system and it just works: our shop groups every microcement product with its matching primer and sealer, and the kits bundle them.
Where it fits
Bathroom walls and floors, shower enclosures, kitchen backsplashes, fireplace surrounds and full floors over sound substrates. Anywhere you want one continuous surface with no grout lines to scrub. It is also the answer when a condo board will not approve heavy demolition: 3 millimetres adds essentially no load and no noise.
What it costs
Materials for a full microcement system typically run $5 to $8 per square foot at 2026 store pricing, more than paint, far less than re-tiling once you count demolition and disposal. Run your surfaces through the project calculator for an exact list, or call the shop at (942) 990-9911 and we will spec it with you.

Can you apply it yourself?
It is more forgiving than polished Venetian plaster but less forgiving than limewash. The technical data sheets and application videos on each product page show the full process. For wet areas especially, if you are not confident, have it installed, the sealer coats are where amateur jobs fail.
